Highlight of the day was the World W60 record set by Sue McDonald in the W55 800m. McDonald, who is one of several athletes celebrating birthdays that move them into new age groups during the Championships, ran 2:25.72 to break a record set minutes earlier by Virginia Mitchell from Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the W60 race – an unusual occurrence that can only occur at a multi-day Masters event like this meet. Her time eclipsed Mitchell’s mark by more than four seconds!

Gloria Krug continues as Team USATF’s leading gold medal winner, collecting her fifth today in the W90 triple jump. She concludes her competition tomorrow with the hammer throw, one of her specialties.  Angela Herzner won the W45 hammer competition today, her second gold medal of the Championships; she also won silver in the shot put.
