Medical/Athletic Trainer/Massage Services for
Team USATF Masters in Toruń
A portion of the Team USATF Masters Fee of €65 is dedicated to paying for aspects of the Team USATF Masters Athletic Trainer/Massage Services. Included for all athletes are the following:
In order to provide athletic trainer/chiropractor/massage services for Team USATF Masters athletes at the 2023 WMA Indoor Championships in Toruń, athletes must purchase a subscription to cover the costs of travel, housing, and meals for the athletic trainer/chiropractic/massage team. This is necessary because budget constraints make it impossible to pay for these necessary services out of the USATF Masters budget for 2023.
Subscriptions will cover a specified number of 20-minute appointments with the athletic trainers/chiropractor and 30-minute sessions with the massage therapists. Sessions will be tracked on personal punch cards issued to those who subscribe:
NO ONE WILL BE PERMITTED TO BOOK MORE THAN TWO SESSIONS A DAY WITH THE TRAINERS/CHIROPRACTOR/MASSAGE THERAPISTS UNLESS INSTRUCTED BY THE STAFF FOR FOLLOW-UP TREATMENT; ATHLETIC TRAINERS WILL NOT BE PROVIDING MASSAGE SERVICES.
Those who do not subscribe cannot receive treatments from the Team USATF athletic trainers/chiropractor/massage therapists; they must seek treatment locally from the services available to all athletes at the Championships on a paid fee for service basis.
Plans are to have Team USATF Masters medical team at the Toruń Arena, where the track is located.
Note that the subscription will only cover the costs for the medical team’s travel, accommodation, and meals. The Team USATF Masters medical team will be leaving their jobs and practices behind. Therefore, athletes should expect to give appropriate tips to their service provider for each appointment. If this is abused, then they simply will not come back to future Championships.
Athletes will purchase these services as an option offered during the registration process. Those buying the services will get a punch card with their name and the purchased number of punch slots in their bib number packet when they pick it up from the Registration area. Only the subscriber can use the card.
Everyone is expected to purchase their own session card. Athletes who, for some reason, are unable to attend the Championships after purchasing a session card, may sell or gift their punch cards to another Team USATF athlete.
Each member of the Medical Team will have a schedule of their availability posted in the medical area for the current and next day. Athletes can sign up one competition day ahead or on the spot if there are session slots open. That way, each athlete can choose the Medical Team member they wish.
Athletes must be present at their session start, or standbys will be treated.
Remember to purchase the number of sessions that you think you will need for your normal competition plus any that you may need in case of minor injury. Also, some may want to schedule some double sessions (40 minutes). Please note that even with a minimal $10-$20 tip these sessions are less than half of normal charges for such services at home.

During the on-line Event Registration process, athletes will be required either to purchase a subscription or decline the offer. If they decline the offer, it is with the understanding that they will not be able to receive any treatment from the Team USATF Masters Medical Team in Toruń except in the event of a medical emergency. In addition, subject to availability, it may be possible to purchase sessions in Toruń; the cost for those sessions will be €10.00 more per session than those purchased during the Registration process.

Mary was a prolific and talented thrower throughout her career, earning 74 Gold, 30 Silver and 8 bronze at USATF Nationals including 18 US records. With 13 #1 World rankings between 2005-2020, she won at WMA 3 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze across all throwing events. She greeted everyone at meets with a smile and she was less impressed by her own athletic accomplishments but was thrilled for you when speaking of yours. Gracious, big-hearted, she was a friend for life of all she touched. Unfortunately, we lost Mary to Covid in the early 2000’s, but she lives on in all our memories.
