To meet the COVID-19 testing protocol requirements for the 2022 USATF Cross Country Championships, competing athletes have multiple options. To help facilitate testing, a few of these options are listed below.
Option #1 – At-Home, rapid NAAT / LAMP testing (with online results verification and report generation) prior to departure.
Lucira Check-It COVID-19 Test (LAMP). At-home test gives results in 30 min. Available from:

Option #2 – Laboratory-based testing options prior to departure.
When making online appointments, be sure that the location performs NAAT testing (e.g., PCR or LAMP). Many locations will verify if testing can be billed to insurance / covered for free. Options may include:
- CVS: https://www.cvs.com/minuteclinic/covid-19-testing
- Walgreens: https://www.walgreens.com/findcare/covid19/testing
- Quest Diagnostics: https://patient.questdiagnostics.com/no-cost-covid-test
- Test for Travel: https://www.testfortravel.com
Option #3 – Test in San Diego at packet pick-up, no out-of-pocket cost.
The event organizers will be providing COVID-19 PCR testing at Packet Pick-up on Friday, January 7 at no out-of-pocket cost to the participants from 11:00am-5:30pm in the Terrazza Ballroom at the Mission Bay Resort, 1775 E. Mission Bay Dr., San Diego, CA 92109. If you miss this window for testing, you will have to obtain a negative test from another source. Results will be texted to those tested Friday night, and a signed release (attached) turned in with your registration or brought to the testing site, will allow results to be given to the meet management for clearance to compete. If taking advantage of this opportunity, please, pre-register with no obligation at https://spectrummedsolutions.jotform.com/Tre/event-check-in. However, walk-ups will also be accommodated.
Important notes:
–Testing at home, prior to departure gives added surety of knowing COVID-19 status before travelling, but involves out of pocket cost.
–If utilizing Option #3 and testing in San Diego, a positive COVID-19 test result will require following CDC / State of California guidelines for isolation (currently minimum of 5 days). Additionally, if your flight / travel is delayed and you miss the Friday testing window, you will have to obtain a negative NAAT COVID-19 test from an alternate source prior to race time.
