Subcommittees of Masters Track and Field carry out many functions essential to successful operation of the organization. See any subcommittee below for more information about its purpose, leadership, members, contact info, annual report and recent activities. Subcommittee work is carried our primarily by volunteers. Contact the subcommittee chair if you have questions, suggestions, or would like to become actively involved.
Subcommittee Guidelines
General provisions governing subcommittee operation:
- There shall be a Chair and a Secretary of each subcommittee as deemed necessary.
- Unless provided for otherwise, the term of office for all subcommittees shall be concurrent with the term of the MTF Chair.
- Meetings of each subcommittee shall be called by the subcommittee Chair.
- The general duties of all chairs and secretaries of subcommittees shall be as follows:
- Preside at all meetings of that subcommittee;
- Ensure that all responsibilities of that subcommittee are properly carried out;
- Communicate with the subcommittee members to keep them fully informed of happenings and decisions necessary to carry out the committee’s responsibilities;
- Provide subcommittee minutes and reports at all meetings of the committee and at other times as requested;
- Serve on the corresponding USATF committees as requested by the Chair of MTF;
- Provide an annual report to the MTF Committee in November each year.
Anti-Doping and Substance Abuse Subcommittee
The Anti-Doping and Substance Abuse Subcommittee arranges for, oversees, and coordinates anti-doping testing for MTF athletes and events, provides guidance to the Executive Committee on any non-USADA issues raised by MTF members and that do not involve confidential or privileged information, carries out activities to inform MTF athletes about medical, anti-doping, and substance abuse education, issues, and protocols, and interfaces with the appropriate anti-doping agency in accomplishing the goals of MTF to maintain a “clean” sport at all levels.

Awards Subcommittee
PURPOSE
The Awards Subcommittee selects award winners following the direction of MTF. The Awards Subcommittee presents awards to outstanding masters athletes each year based on performances during the calendar year. Awards are presented at the Athletes Awards Dinner held during the Outdoor Masters Championship each year. Nominations are accepted at the close of the outdoor season. Criteria listed below are used to evaluate nominees.

Budget and Finance Subcommittee
The Budget and Finance Subcommittee prepares the proposed budget to submit to the USATF Budget and Finance Committee and presents the proposed budget to the (MTF) Committee at the annual meeting.

Championship Games Subcommittee
The Championships Games Subcommittee is responsible for all aspects of each USATF Masters National Track and Field Championships and conducts each to conform with USATF rules. It reviews and keeps current the “Criteria for Hosting Championships” and the “Procedures for Site Selection;” secures bids for the Championships sites, and coordinates the selection process. It also prepares the schedule of events for each Championship, oversees the conduct of the Championship, and works with the Local Organizing Committee to ensure the fulfillment of all contractual obligations and the success of the Championship.

Combined Events Subcommittee
The Combined Events Subcommittee solicits bids for stand-alone combined events championships, oversees the conduct of these events, and serves as a resource to the Local Organizing Committees. In addition, the Subcommittee serves as a resource to the Championships Games Subcommittee for the conduct of the combined events at the USATF Masters Track and Field Championships.

Communications Subcommittee
The Communications Subcommittee develops an integrated communications and marketing strategy for MTF, with primary responsibility for overseeing the planning, development and execution of branding, communications, marketing, and community outreach initiatives. This strategy includes traditional print and broadcast media, social media, website, and public relations, and is implemented in coordination and collaboration with the USATF Marketing, Communications, and Events staff in the National Office.

Exhibition Events Subcommittee
The Exhibition Events Subcommittee organizes exhibition events for Masters Athletes at the USATF indoor and outdoor senior championships as well as at selected other major competitions. The Subcommittee also is responsible for nominating U.S. participants in Masters exhibition events at international championship meets.

Masters Hall of Fame Subcommittee
The Hall of Fame (“HOF”) Subcommittee annually researches, solicits, and presents nominees for selection to the MTF Hall of Fame. Nominees may include active or retired MTF athletes and administrators who have been involved in MTF for a minimum of ten (10) years. The HOF Subcommittee is comprised of at least 50% members of the MTF Hall of Fame. Voters include the HOF Subcommittee, current members of the Hall of Fame, and members of the MTF Executive Committee. Criteria for selection to the MTF Hall of Fame are established by the HOF Subcommittee.

Inclusion Subcommittee
The MTF Inclusion Subcommittee seeks to establish and maintain an inclusive culture that fosters equitable participation for athletes, officials, volunteers and spectators.
To empower athletic development, competition, fitness, friendship, sportsmanship and volunteerism; the Inclusion Subcommittee will provide or enable education and advocate for USATF Masters policies which sustain foundations of a diverse and inclusive culture across all dimensions including, but not limited to, age, race, sex, gender, gender expression, class, geographical location, national origin, educational background, marital status, parental status, disability, income, sexual orientation, creed and all levels of athletic ability.

Race Walking Subcommittee
The Race Walking Subcommittee establishes procedures for selecting Race Walking Championships held outside the MTF championships, ensures that race walking records are maintained for masters, selects annual race walking awardees, and serves as a resource to championships organizing committees. The chair of this subcommittee shall be a representative to the USATF Race Walk Committee. *Note: Regional race walking championships may be administered by race walk coordinators delegated by the masters track & field regional coordinators.

Rankings Subcommittee
The Rankings Subcommittee compiles annual rankings of age-group athletes for masters athletics.

Records Subcommittee
The Records Subcommittee maintains and updates age-group American records for masters track and field. The Subcommittee periodically submits a report to the Executive Committee consisting of a list of records that are recommended for ratification. The accumulation of these reports throughout the year is included with the formal reporting of the USATF Annual Meeting. The chair of this subcommittee serves on the USATF Records Committee.

Special Marketing Subcommittee
In 2022, the Special Marketing Subcommittee was established and charged with developing and implementing plans to market Masters Track & Field and its events to current MTF athletes and to expand the pool of MTF athletes by marketing to other constituencies not currently involved.

PURPOSE
The Throwing Events Subcommittee solicits bids for throwing events that have stand-alone national championships, oversees the organization and conduct of these events, and serves as a resource Local Organizing Committees. In addition, the Subcommittee serves as a resource to the Championships Games Subcommittee for the conduct of the throwing events at the USATF Masters Track and Field Championships.
