David Bickel, M35 - M55, Athlete / Administrator (Throws)

David’s Athletic Overview:

David has competed in Masters Track & Field since 2004. During that time, he set 8 USATF MTF records, won 4 WMA Championship medals, and won 42 USATF MTF Championships. He has had at least 32 USA #1 Rankings and been recognized for both athletic and administrative accomplishments.

David’s Administrative Contributions:

David has demonstrated his commitment to Masters Track and Field by working every administrative aspect including forming and running a club, coaching, becoming a certified official, being a national committee member and chairing two national committees. Significant contributions include:

  • Conceiving and managing the creation of a throws meet management system used by USATF Masters Throws Committee and several throws clubs. The system, like Hy-Tek and other meet management systems, saves throws meet organizers much time and helps them run meets efficiently.
  • Conceiving and managing the creation of a records management system. The system saves time, significantly reduces errors, facilitates good communication, provides transparency and enables quickly finding record information and statuses.
  • Serving on the USATF Master’s Throws Committee (2012 – present)
  • Served as the Chair of the USATF Rankings Committee (2014 – 2015)
  • Serving as the USATF Master’s Records Committee Chair (2021 – present)
  • Received the USATF National Track and Field Officials Committee Outstanding Service Award 2017
  • Hosted the West Region Throws Championships (2012 – present)
  • Hosted numerous other sanctioned meets allowing for many USATF/MTF records, as well as a National Open record (non USA) to be set and ratified.
  • Founder and head coach of AZDT. Coached dozens of athletes including several who set national records
  • 2022 Ken Weinbel Award for exemplary contributions to the masters throwing community

LaTrica Dendy, W35 - W45, Athlete (60m through 800m and Long Hurdles)

LaTrica’s Athletic Overview:

LaTrica has competed in Masters Track & Field since 2006. During that time, she set 5 USATF MTF records, won 9 WMA Championships, 35 USATF MTF Championships, and won 5 WMA Silver medals. She has had at least 43 USA #1 Rankings and received 4 USATF MTF Age Group Athlete of the Year Awards.

LaTricia has been running track without a break since she was a youth athlete. At the WMA Championships in Malaga in 2018, she achieved the rare accomplishment of winning the seldom contested double of the open 400m and the 400m hurdles, in spite of tripping during the 400m hurdle race. She has medaled in each WMA Championship in which she has participated.

Tim Edwards, M45 - M70, Athlete / Administrator (Throws)

Tim’s Athletic Overview:

Tim has been involved in Masters Track & Field since 1992. During that time, he set 7 USATF MTF records and won 36 USATF MTF Championships.

Tim’s Administrative Contributions:
  • Six people have submitted passionate nominations for Tim. A common theme, in their nominations and what others say, is that he is always doing whatever is needed to help meets he attends run smoother. Tim seems to always be doing something, ranging from weights & measures, bringing implements from the impound area to venues and officiating, at the same meet. Some of Tim’s contributions are:
  • Masters Active Athlete Representative for 23 years.
  • Masters Representative on the Equipment and Facilities Specifications Committee for approximately 7 years
  • Masters Throws Committee Co-Chair for approximately 3 years
  • Masters Throws Committee member (~1997-present)
  • Throws coordinator for Rocky Mountain Masters Games Meet for approximately 25 years
  • Throws coordinator for Colorado Association Indoor Meet for approximately 15 years
  • Throws coordinator for Mid-America Indoor and Outdoor meet (multiple times)

  • Rocky Mountain Senior Games Hammer throw sponsor, event coordinator, and official for approximately 12 years
  • Rocky Mountain Senior Games Weight throw sponsor, event coordinator, and official for approximately 11 years
  • Member of Board of Directors for the Colorado Masters Track and Field Club for approximately 6 years
  • Masters athletes’s coach for over 25 years
  • Founder and President of the Colorado Masters Throwers Association (CMTA). By request he folded the club into the Colorado Masters Track and Field Club so that members could compete under one banner at nationals.
  • Officiating since 1965 – currently USATF Masters Level Official

Sue McDonald, W35 - W60, Athlete (Middle Distance, Long Hurdles, Pole Vault, Combined Events)

Sue’s Athletic Overview:

Sue has competed in Masters Track & Field since 1998. during that time, she has broken 9 WMA and 22 USATF MTF records, has won 16 USATF MTF championships, and won 1 WMA silver and 4 WMA bronze medals. She has had at least 22 USA #1 Rankings, been selected as the USATF MTF Overall Athlete of the Year once and received 1 USATF MTF Age Group Athlete of the Year Award.

Emmanuelle McGowan, W35 - W55, Athlete (Sprints)

Emmanuelle’s Athletic Overview:

Emmanuelle has competed in Masters Track & Field since December 2012. During that time, she set 8 USATF MTF records, won 11 WMA Championships, 37 USATF MTF Championships, and won 5 WMA Silver medals. She has had at least 33 USA #1 Rankings, received 1 USATF MTF Event Category and 5 USATF MTF Age Group Athlete of the Year Awards. Amazingly, some of the records Emmanuelle has broken have been within weeks of her aging up – very rare.

Antonio Palacios, M35 - M55, Athlete (Horizontal Jumps)

Antonio’s Athletic Overview:

Antonio has competed in Masters Track & Field since 2004. During that time, he broke 2 WMA and 5 USATF MTF records, won 3 WMA Championships, 25 USATF MTF Championships, and won 2 WMA Silver medals. He has had at least 33 USA #1 Rankings, received 1 USATF MTF Event and 3 USATF MTF Age Group Athlete of the Year Awards. In 2019, Antonio was selected as the WMA Best Male Jumps Athlete.

Antonio’s M45 WMA Indoor long jump record has stood for 11 years. He won each of the 25 USATF MTF National Championship events he competed in up to the 2023 Outdoor Championship
