(Daytona Beach FL -- December 6, 2012) -- At its annual awards presentation on Saturday, December 1, 2012, USA Track & Field (USATF) Masters Track & Field Committee presented the David Pain National Service Award to Bob Weiner of Accokeek MD.

The committee presented the award plaque to Weiner at USATF's annual meeting in Daytona Beach, Florida. The convention audience included more than 1,000 athletes, coaches, and officials from all over America.

The committee presents the award each year to one person in the country who helped masters track & field by his or her work. Weiner serves as chair of the USATF Masters Media Committee. The committee commended the coverage that Weiner generated for the indoor and outdoor national and world championships for many years. As he does every year, Weiner prepared and showed the committee a compendium of video clips of media coverage of masters track & field.

Weiner is a member of Potomac Valley Track Club, Northern Virginia Running Club, and DC Road Runners Club.

"I am honored and humbled because everyone on the committee works for track & field, and all could equally win," said Weiner. The committee will re-present the award to Weiner at the outdoor national masters championships in the summer of 2013.
